Controversy Over Discrimination Between VIP and Common Devotees at Lalbaugcha Raja

Mumbai:The annual Ganesh Utsav at Mumbai's famous Lalbaugcha Raja is once again embroiled in controversy due to the apparent discrimination between VIPs and common devotees. Every year, millions of devotees flock to seek blessings from Lalbaugcha Raja, but the stark difference in arrangements for VIPs and common people has raised serious concerns. While common devotees face long queues and struggle for hours to get a glimpse of their beloved deity, VIPs are given direct access without any hassle.
Devotees, who line up from early morning to get a glimpse of Lalbaugcha Raja, report waiting for 5 to 6 hours in the queue. Meanwhile, VIPs are allowed to enter through a separate gate, bypassing the long wait. A frustrated devotee remarked, "We stand in line for hours, struggling to get a darshan, but VIPs get it effortlessly. Why is there discrimination in the temple of God?"
This scene is repeated year after year at the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal. While common devotees endure long queues and jostling crowds, VIPs enjoy a smooth, hassle-free darshan. The VIP culture has left many devotees feeling disheartened and angry, as the spirit of equality in devotion seems compromised.
This year, the dissatisfaction over VIP treatment has grown louder. Many devotees have taken to social media to voice their concerns about this unfair practice, deeming it contrary to the principles of religious devotion and equality. One devotee tweeted, "Ganpati Bappa belongs to everyone, so why this VIP culture? The pandal administration must address this issue."
All eyes are now on the pandal administration, as devotees hope they will take steps to end this VIP culture. Common devotees believe that everyone should have equal rights to seek blessings from the deity, without any preferential treatment for a select few.
As every year, the issue of discrimination between VIPs and common devotees at Lalbaugcha Raja has once again become a hot topic. Will the pandal administration take concrete action to resolve this, or will devotees face the same disappointment yet again?
