FIR lodged against Assam CM Dr. Sarma in Dispur PS

Guwahati:An FIR has been lodged in Dispur police station against Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma by the opposition Aikya Manch, an alliance of opposition parties of Assam. The FIR, signed by the Forum and state Congress president Bhupen Kumar Bora and its general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi, reads, "We are lodging this FIR against Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the Chief Minister of the state.
He is trying to promote enmity between different groups on the basis of religion and caste." Anger is erupting across Assam against the heinous incident of rape of a student of Dhing. Taking advantage of this heinous act, the Chief Minister is trying to incite communal frenzy by targeting the particular community of the accused person, due to which some people belonging to religious minorities were attacked by BJP workers and leaders in Sivasagar. In one such incident, Mayur Borgohain, the defeated candidate from Nazira constituency in the 2021 assembly elections, beat up some labourers working under him.
This has been done as part of a conspiracy to create a riot-like situation in the state. Accused Himanta Biswa Sarma and other BJP leaders are part of a criminal conspiracy to create such unrest. Sarma has a history of making inflammatory statements targeting a particular community. A year ago, he had appealed to people to drive out people belonging to a religious community (which he called "Miyan") from Guwahati. Continuing his tirade against religious minorities, the accused on August 4 targeted a journalist named Shah Alam with clear communal insinuations. When asked some questions, the accused referred to his religion and counter-questioned whether he would allow him and others to stay in Assam. During a press conference on August 23, the accused again referred to a religious community and made baseless claims that after entering a particular area, a person belonging to a particular community deliberately starts eating beef, due to which people of other communities leave the place and thus they occupy these areas.
Such frequent rhetoric in public is likely to create animosity between different communities. The aggressive nature of the accused can be gauged from the fact that in a party meeting held recently, he had called himself a mad dog. If such a person is not immediately arrested and controlled, he can create a riot-like situation in the state to gain political advantage. Therefore, we request you to register a case and investigate against the accused and his co-conspirators under sections 61, 196 and 35(2) of the Indian Penal Code, 2023.
