Five More Cases Filed Against Former Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan

Islamabad : Five additional cases have been registered against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned and the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), at various police stations across the country. These cases are related to the PTI protest held at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 4.

According to a report from Geo News, several other PTI leaders have also been named in these cases, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed. It is noteworthy that one day before the protest at D-Chowk, on October 3, the country's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had warned Imran's party against starting an "attack on Islamabad." He urged PTI leadership to reconsider their decision to protest.

This protest coincided with the visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Pakistan and the final day of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

The former ruling PTI has initiated an anti-government campaign advocating for the "independence" of the judiciary and the release of the former Prime Minister from jail. Several PTI leaders and Imran's sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, were taken into custody during the protest on Friday. Serious charges under 16 provisions related to terrorism have been filed against Imran's sisters at the Kohsar police station.

A case related to the D-Chowk protest has also been registered against PTI Islamabad President Amir Masood Mughal at the Tarnol police station. The FIR includes the PTI founder, Chief Minister Gandapur, and 350 unidentified individuals, along with 34 other named individuals. The case registered at the Tarnol police station is under 13 different legal provisions. Additionally, another case has been filed at the Karachi Company police station against the PTI founder, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Gandapur's information advisor, Barrister Saif, under eight serious charges. The FIR names 20 other individuals and 250 unidentified persons, with accusations against PTI leaders Azam Swati and Khursheed for providing financial assistance.

One case has been registered against the PTI founder and 50 unidentified individuals at the Ramna police station under six serious charges.

Furthermore, the former Prime Minister has been named in another FIR at the Golra police station under six serious charges. This FIR includes the names of about 30 others and 200 unidentified individuals. Imran is also facing another FIR at the I-9 police station with 10 serious charges. Other individuals in this case include Gandapur, Khursheed, and Malik Amir, along with approximately 20 other individuals and 300 unidentified people.
