Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly Today
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the International Telecommunication Union-World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024 today at 10 AM at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. During this event, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the eighth India Mobile Congress 2024. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared details of the Prime Minister’s program on X (formerly Twitter). The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has provided detailed information about the event.
According to the PIB release, the WTSA is being organized to standardize digital technologies by the United Nations agency for telecommunications. This conference occurs every four years and is taking place in India and the Asia-Pacific region for the first time. This significant global event will see the participation of over 3,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and technical experts from more than 190 countries representing the telecommunications, digital, and ICT sectors.
The PIB release further states that the India Mobile Congress 2024 will showcase India’s innovation ecosystem. During this time, major telecommunications companies and innovators will highlight advancements in quantum technology and the circular economy, as well as showcase use cases for 6G and 5G, cloud and edge computing, semiconductors, cybersecurity, green technology, satellite communication, and electronics manufacturing. The core theme of the eighth India Mobile Congress is "The Future is Now." The event will feature over 400 exhibitors, participation from nearly 900 startups, and representatives from more than 120 countries. Hosting this event in India provides an opportunity for the country to play a significant role in shaping the global telecommunications agenda and directing future technologies. Indian startups and research institutions are poised to gain valuable insights for developing intellectual property rights and essential standard patents.
According to the PIB, the India Mobile Congress 2024 will showcase India’s innovation ecosystem. As Asia's largest digital technology platform, the India Mobile Congress has become a renowned venue for demonstrating innovative solutions, services, and cutting-edge use cases in the telecommunications sector, involving industry, government, academia, startups, and other key stakeholders. The objective of the India Mobile Congress is to present over 900 technology use cases, host more than 100 sessions, and facilitate discussions with over 600 global and Indian speakers.
