Uber Black Makes a Comeback in Mumbai with Premium Ride Service

Mumbai : In a significant development for ride-sharing enthusiasts, Uber has relaunched its premium service, Uber Black, in Mumbai. Announced on Wednesday, the updated Uber Black aims to cater to the growing demand for high-end, personalized ride experiences among Indian consumers.
Uber Black is designed to offer a luxurious alternative to the company’s standard ride options. Passengers can now enjoy new, high-end vehicles and be chauffeured by top-rated drivers, ensuring a premium experience from start to finish. Key features of Uber Black include quiet mode, temperature control, luggage assistance, and an extended five-minute pickup window without additional charges.
To avail of the Uber Black service, users need to follow a simple process:
- Open the Uber app and enter your destination in the ‘Where to’ box.
- Select Uber Black from the options at the bottom of the screen.
- Set your on-trip preferences.
- Review the booking details and price, then tap “Confirm Black” to finalize your ride.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the launch: “We are thrilled to bring Uber Black back in an all-new avatar to meet the evolving aspirations of Indian customers and introduce the business class of back seats on Indian roads.” Singh emphasized that Uber’s industry-leading technology in matching, routing, and pricing would ensure a consistent, high-quality service experience.
Uber originally introduced Uber Black in India in 2013, featuring premium cars like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. However, the service was later phased out and replaced with more budget-friendly vehicles such as the Toyota Innova and Honda City. With its return, Uber aims to reinstate its premium offering, enhancing the ride experience for Mumbai’s discerning travelers.
Uber currently operates in 125 cities across India, with a fleet of over 1.1 million drivers. Besides Uber Black, the company offers a range of services including intercity rides, pre-booked trips, and bus shuttle options.
As Uber continues to expand its premium offerings, Mumbai residents can look forward to a new level of comfort and sophistication in their daily commutes.
